How do I purchase TurboTax Audit Defense?


The easiest way to purchase TurboTax® Audit Defense is to purchase it when you file your taxes with TurboTax®. If you missed it this year or want to get Audit Defense for past years, you can purchase memberships through our TurboTax® Audit Defense site.

Here are the steps for purchasing audit defense after filing your tax return: 

  • Navigate to our TurboTax® Audit Defense site 
  • From the homepage, click the “Sign Up” button.

  • Click the “Get Audit Defense” button.

  • A “Product Selection” screen will generate with a list of available products.
  • Carefully review the choices and select your desired audit defense product by clicking the “Select” button to the right of the product.
  • Once you have chosen all desired products, click the “Checkout” button on the bottom of the “Product Selection” screen.

  • You will be directed to enter your information, or the taxpayer’s information if you are purchasing for someone else. Review your entries and click “Continue”.

  • You will be taken to a “Cart Summary” page where you can review your personal information once more, and a list of the products you selected.
  • You will be asked to review the “Standard Membership Agreement” before continuing.
  • The “Standard Membership Agreement” will open in a new window.
    • Once you have reviewed the agreement, close out of the window and return to the “Cart Summary” screen.
  • Click the box at the bottom of the screen to accept the “Standard Membership Agreement”.
    • Upon acknowledgment of the agreement, a “Billing Information” section will generate.
  • Enter your payment details and click the “Complete” button to complete your transaction.
You will receive an email confirmation of your coverage.
